It took a couple of months for everyone to realize that the new reality of lockdown was here to stay for much longer than expected. Work-from-home and homeschooling became the new norm, dissolving all adults into a chaotic lifestyle they wouldn't have been able to sustain if it weren't for the internet.

Yes, the savior of this century, the internet! This is what's keeping everyone sane (or as much as they can be), and helping them express their feelings about their upturned life through memes. Many people have shared their quarantine experiences on the internet from distressed parents to bored young-adults, hoping the world would at least sympathize with them. Sadly, it's hard to feel sorry for someone when you are laughing at their situation, only because your lockdown life was a lot better than theirs! If you still think your quarantine days were unthinkable, you should look at these memes and feel better about yourself.

Professor, Not-So-Social After All!

The lockdown has shown us yet another side of our educators! It seems online classes are not everyone's cup of tea, teachers included! Here's one story that proves it all!

This trending meme shows the super cool attitude of the professor who decides to cancel the class in the most youthful manner, if we may say so. What is even better is that he drops the day's lecture in an attached file so that anyone still interested in the class can take one on their own. Everyone needs a day off every now and then, and we hope this teacher resumed their online lectures again soon.

Medieval Mayhem

Family quality time cannot be livelier than this. Instead of spending their time in their separate rooms, this household chose to recreate an old dinner painting in a real-life scene. It must have required lots of effort to make it so flawless, but what better ways to spend those long hours together in quarantine?

We still have one thing in our mind – did they really bake all that bread, or did someone go shopping at the local bakery? Either way, we hope they broke none of the government's social distancing regulations to make this happen!

Please Recycle, Guys

Following a cosplay trend doesn’t need a massive amount of money, but only when you are creative enough. Take a look at this picture, for example – this young woman represents how real low-budget cosplay, when done right, looks! For mimicking the painting perfectly, she has utilized random objects to create DIY accessories, from toilet tissues to latex gloves. While she may not look precisely similar, we have to appreciate her effort nonetheless.

You may see this picture as pure trolling, yet it turns out that the maker had a positive motivation. She wants us to be more conscious of household waste and make sure we recycle regularly.

A Huge Hungry Head

After witnessing the creativity of one art-inspired family, we now proceed to this lovely lad. His choice of the object may be unusual, as he tends to imitate a highly philosophical painting. With some Legos, food, and an extraordinary concentration of creativity, he nails it!

This artwork, called 'The Temptation of Saint Anthony,' was created by Joos van Craesbeeck in 1650. It was supposed to be a profound reflection on the afterlife, but after this imaginative re-interpretation, it seems to have become a profound reflection on 'this' life.

When Your Future Self Comes Home

Zoom meetings have become another custom for us, mainly after the spread of the COVID 19 virus. The lockdown forces us to do everything online, and people are often bored due to being home and before their computer screens all day. Yet some super-creative minded people can find humorous ways to liven up everyone's day even if it's during an official meeting!

This "quesadilla man," who is probably a video editor, took things to the next level. With his tech-savvy skills, he created a Zoom background featuring his doppelganger. Puts a whole new spin on 'Back to The Future,' doesn't it!

From Fiona With Love

Who would have expected that Fiona Apple's long-awaited album would debut during the quarantine? To be honest, nobody, except perhaps the artist herself. As expected, the lockdown and her flawless vocals made the album a massive hit!

While for Fiona, things couldn't have been going better with the album's success, the resulting memes created an even bigger stir online! Thanks to her decision to release the songs mid-lockdown, homebound fans tweeted funny quotes and memes revolving around her latest album. One of her peers even joked that she had to wait for the world to fall into a melancholic state before finally releasing new music!

An Acknowledgement

To those who think that learning in person is boring, try to have an online class! We believe that you will be hoping that the government opens the school again in less than an hour. Yes, it is somehow more taxing and monotonous, especially since everyone cannot meet and greet like we used to.

Hey – but think positively. A Google Classroom meeting can help you obtain an acknowledgment from the teachers, especially if you are a super-introverted person. Without the obligation of having to stand up in front of the class, you might gain more confidence to do your presentation smoothly and earn your professor's approval!

Living Our Dream, No Not Really!

Cracking up on the $1,200 stimulus check announcement by the government has become quite a common sight on the internet. There are no limits to the endless monthly expenditures, and a basic $1,200 can’t really do much!

This funny girl came up with an amusing meme by taking a dig on how insufficient these bucks are; Saying that at 21, she can now buy a dream house by combining her stimulus check with her boyfriend. We wonder if this amount might just cover their housewarming party expense too.

What A $1,200 Can’t Do!

Having humor come to the rescue is probably the only available option to tackle with the lockdown blues. Post the government's exciting $1,200 stimulus check distribution announcement; there were some hilarious incoming memes!

Well, a mere $1,200 cannot shield you from the massive expenditures on healthcare (thank you, coronavirus), rent, groceries, and utilities. All these expenses incurred every month far exceed the amount that the citizens are receiving. Using a single Cheeto to highlight the financial aid's ineffectiveness is not only humorously witty; it is also accurate in this instance.

Coincidence? Maybe Not!

In yet another exciting announcement, the United States government declared that many of the country's individuals would receive a $1,200 stimulus check. This declaration was made in light to move past the damage done to the economy because of the coronavirus.

Ever since then, several memes have flooded social media with jokes about this dream-come-true like situation. What remains our favorite is how right after this statement, 'Costco' started selling an eighty-two inch 'Samsung' TV for - take a guess? Yes, $1,200! We smell a smart marketing strategy team behind this.

Ultra-Cool Professor!

You are lucky if your professor has the camera on during a Zoom lecture, but we would call you even luckier if your professors show up for lessons in bizarre outfits. It seems the teachers have taken distance learning and COVID protective gear a little too seriously, especially since the class is literally from a vast distance!

From a costume party to getting a close look at what your professor is eating today, Zoom allows you to zoom into all these exciting tidbits of their life. What’s the procedure to join this class again?

Welcome to Zoom University!

Give this meme-maker an award for making us laugh with one of the funniest teachers and Zoom memes made during the lockdown period. With colleges and universities shut due to the quarantine, professors are using or shall we say, overusing Zoom to make us forget corona’s existence.

While some educators are having a hard time using technology, managing the complicated mute/unmute buttons, there are some, on the other hand who have welcomed this brand new change with open arms! With this extreme admiration for Zoom, we hope the professors don’t get too used to this platform once the crisis is over.

UnBEARable

They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, but they didn’t tell you that a meme is worth two-thousand! A case in point is this cute little bear and its expressive eyes, which tells us that it is going through a lot of turmoil.

You would agree if we say that many of us have been affected by the imposition of a lockdown, news of the quarantine, and the lack of social interaction - just like the bear. We hope that, like always, there’s a light at the end of this tunnel!

The Others

This one certainly brings out the emotion of the memers and the people who relate to it! While there are some folks who are working hard to ace in their school or workplace during the lockdown season, another group is busy learning new skills, languages, and hobbies.

Besides these two kinds of people, there are ‘legends’ like us who were intending to do something new, but never acted on it! So when somebody tells that they have read 15 books, learned to bake bread, and started meditating, it gets a tad bit annoying.

Not For Disposal!

The quarantine period has brought out the chefs, painters, and not to forget, the re-cyclists in us! This lockdown has surprised us with some fun facts about homegrown food marking a lifestyle change amidst the crisis; many homemakers joined the trend of regrowing scallions in the kitchen.

This meme tries to show how people have been flexing over this newly learned art of scallion re-cycling by equating that feeling of being green-thumbed to the plant kingdom's original queen, 'Poison Ivy.' We know you're laughing at this a bit too much because you can relate! Let's just hope everyone continues tending to their kitchen gardens even when coronavirus is gone!

Did you, Nintendo?

There are many theories about the origins of the COVID-19 virus. While some like the bat-infestation one and lab-grown one sound plausible, others seem wildly speculative. But this, by far, is the best theory we have heard!

John Oliver threw some ideas into our head when he suggested that Nintendo may have released the COVID-19 virus to boost the popularity of the ‘Animal Crossing’ game. It might be a little far-fetched, but we are inclined to believe him owing to the raging success of the game.

Not Again, Alison

The pressure of catching up with the current trends has impacted the best of us - whether it affects us positively or negatively is another question altogether! So when Alison Roman shows up on TV with suggestions for your next meal, it is quite hard to ignore.

In fact, there are moments when Alison makes you want to slice and peel those shallots, even if you weren’t in a mood to eat them. Now, it makes us wonder whether our moms got together and hired her to get us off the couch!

Source of Inspiration

Being locked down inside the house can elicit different reactions from different kinds of people. While some might channel their inner creative genius, others might get bored and get to their wit's end. In a similar vein, when the plague was looming as a threat in the 16th century, Shakespeare sat down in his home and wrote 'King Lear.'

Now, this begs the question - can you too come up with a masterpiece while being in quarantine? When life gives you lemons, can you make a 'Lear' out of it or at least some lemonade?

No One is Reclaiming Anything

Yes, the wiener stampede commercial has become a ‘hot’ commodity once again! Given the number of ‘animals reclaiming the cities’ pictures surfacing on the internet, a noble soul decided that it was time for the Heinz advertisement to make a comeback.

Despite scientific evidence refuting the claim that wildlife is taking over the cities, rhetorics like ‘Nature is healing. We are the virus’ seems to be an unending fad. Now, we have a counter-meme that takes a dig at this widely believed notion, by painting it as an absurd idea!

Message Conveyors

Admit it - a bunch of cats going around on a conveyor belt is the best thing you have seen in the entire week! When there’s a lot of ludicrous speculation that animals are taking over the cities, we might as well add fuel to the fire with stories like these.

Who knows, cats might actually be the original baggage claim workers! Now is the right time to fight for their rights and help them reclaim their spot at the airport. After all, ‘Nature is healing. We are the virus’!

Get Naturally Smokey Eyes

Enough is not being spoken about parents who are taking care of young kids during the lockdown! They are expected to double up as teachers and triple up as the house’s caretaker while managing their work at the same time! And this meme aptly captures the distraught of such folks!

The lack of sleep, children’s constant need for attention, and the impending list of household chores are more than enough for mommy to get smokey eyes. We are glad that, at least, she was able to save on trips to the parlor!

Blast to Past

The lockdown is helping family members, who are otherwise busy with their chores, to get to know each other better. When Curtis Sittenfeld’s children demanded to see her in a wedding dress, she had no choice but to oblige. So she spent over half an hour getting ready to go and have lunch in her kitchen!

It is definitely a nice way to relive your old memories with your kids or grandkids around. Besides, the veil and gown can make for a great PPE suit, in case you are looking for some protective wear!

Judas or Jar Jar Binks

When you are in the middle of a quarantine, life gives you a chance to reflect on your choices and decisions like never before. So here’s the question - in the highly likely scenario of you being stuck with one of these historical figures, which group would you pick?

Kudos to the list maker’s creativity, who places Jake Paul with Jar Jar Binks and Judas with Bella from 'Twilight'! Thought-provoking memes like the lunch-table one or ‘You Can Choose Only 3’ have always made it to the trending lists, and the quarantine house seems to have made the cut this time around.

Knowing the Local Leaders

One good thing that came as a result of the quarantine was being able to know the local officials better. Along with the likes of Dr. Anthony Fauci, we had many mayors and senators rising to prominence in their home states or towns. But there were some politicians who went out of their way to ensure that the locals recognize them.

For instance, this mayor of a populous city went all out and put up cutouts of herself across the city! Unsurprisingly, this was turned into a meme, which ended up hounding her for many weeks.

Unlimited Greens For Life

The great lockdown of 2020 has brought about a sense of frugality in our lives - be it for economic reasons or otherwise. Kitchen fads like baking, vegetable artwork, and innovative use of leftover food have started to resist the preexisting disposability culture.

One such hack involves regrowing scallions to get an endless supply of the vegetable for the kitchen. It is mainly popular because their roots require very little maintenance or space to grow. In fact, it has become so common that the 'New York Times' has called this trend shift as ‘scallion nation’!

That Never ‘Crossed’ Our Minds

With numerous trends and products popping up during the COVID-19, 'Nintendo' did not want to stay far behind. So the video game creators came up with ‘Animal Crossing,’ a game which has animals going out to catch fish and hunting for fossils!

Users ensured that the full potential was unlocked - the scope of ‘Animal Crossing’ ranged from being a subject of memes to acting as a tool for protests. While internet folks are busy playing the game and figuring if the experience is better than ‘Pokemon Go,’ 'Nintendo' certainly seems to be having the last laugh!

Ignorance is Bliss

Love it or hate it, you simply cannot ignore the sleeper hit of 2020 in the games category - ‘Animal Crossing’! For many people who were looking to escape from all the stress and troubles caused by the COVID-19, this game was the real deal.

Gamers can immerse themselves in the fantasy world of animals while not worrying about wearing masks or protective gear. While being oblivious to the problems of the real world is not a solution, getting a breather from time to time can be helpful. In addition to all this, the game has the cutest villagers, so it can’t be all that bad!

Master of All Amateur Chefs

Food columnist, Alison Roman is certainly among the unexpected stars of the 2020 quarantine! Thanks to her fan-favorite recipes like the shallot pasta and shortbread cookies, the demand for her seems to be on a massive surge. It is a fact that the dishes suggested by her take little time to prepare and require readily available ingredients.

With most people confined to their homes and having a lot of time to spare, the number of people cooking at home has risen incredibly. And for those who haven’t stepped into a kitchen in their entire life, Alison is surely a blessing in disguise!

Too Soon For this Kiddo

While the actual lockdown of 2020 lasted for many months, parents knew what hit them in the early days itself! The kids couldn’t meet their friends, they had to be homeschooled and fed at least five times a day - we could go on with this list of woes.

Here’s a supremely distraught woman, who is just tired of seeing her kid leap from one piece of furniture to the other in a Spider-Man costume. If that wasn’t troublesome enough, the little one kept annoying her by whispering the words ‘can you hear me breathe’!
