Magnum, P.I was the show that kept viewers glued to their screen in the ‘80s. Tom Selleck starred in the crime drama series as a private investigator based in Oahu, Hawaii. The show had an 8-year run and consistently ranked high in the list of top twenty U.S. TV shows.

We can’t fail to mention the incredible women who featured on the show, and we believe that they offered the balance needed to make the show the hit that it was. Let’s look back at the Magnum women and dig a little into what they are up to these days.

Mimi Rogers - Then

Mimi Rogers grew up in south Florida, and we aren’t that surprised that she shone on Magnum, P.I. She guest-starred in the episode titled “Italian Ice” as Margo Perina, and it’s the role that helped launch her into stardom.

She went on to land roles in several movies at the time like The Mighty Quinn, Someone to Watch Over Me, and the religious film The Rapture. The latter earned her even more recognition as a great performer in Hollywood. She also graced the cover of Hugh Hefner’s famous publication in the early ‘90s.

Mimi Rogers - Now

After The Rupture, Rogers appeared in other films like Lost In Space and The Door In The Floor. She also featured in other TV shows like The Loop, The X-Files, Mad Men, and most recently, Bosch.

Rogers is a former member of the Church of Scientology, and she’s widely known to have recruited her second husband Tom Cruise into Scientology. She’s now married to Chris Ciafa, and they share two children. Rogers is now 64, but she’s still keeping busy with work, and she’s set to appear in the upcoming film What Still Remains.

Dana Delany - Then

Dana Delany’s career started on the stage where she most notably performed in plays like A Life. She moved to Hollywood and started picking up guest roles in TV shows like Magnum, P.I. She portrayed the role of Cynthia Farrell in several episodes of the show.

Her acting career soared soon after, and she had her breakthrough as Colleen McMurphy in China Beach. Her role on the ABC drama earned her two Primetime Emmys as an Outstanding Lead. Her shining streak continued through the ‘90s with appearances in films like Light Sleeper and Wide Awake.

Dana Delany - Now

Dana Delany is now 63, and People magazine ranked her on the 9th spot on their 2011 Most Beautiful list. She’s still on heavy rotation around Hollywood with roles in hit shows like Desperate Housewives, Body of Proof, and Castle.

Behind the scenes, Delany is yet to settle down in marriage. She shared during an interview, when she turned 50 that she wanted to get married only that she didn’t have a better half yet. Granted that was 13 years ago, we think that she’s sticking with her sentiments about marriage never having been a big deal for her.

Shannen Doherty - Then

We might know Shannen Doherty more from her roles in shows like Beverly Hills, 90210 and Charmed. However, long before that, she guest-starred in an episode of Magnum, P.I. titled A Sense of Debt. She portrayed the role of a boxer’s young daughter who seeks out Magnum’s help.

It was amongst Doherty’s very first screen roles, including appearances in Our House and Air Wolf. Her role in the latter show earned her a nomination at the 1984 6th Youth in Film Awards. She also received an endless list of Young Artist Award nominations for Our House.

Shannen Doherty -  Now

Doherty enjoyed an illustrious career well into adulthood, and recently she’s been working on the reboot of Beverly Hills, 90210 as a co-producer. Doherty’s personal life has been quite tumultuous, and People magazine even dubbed her a '90s ‘bad girl.’ She was briefly engaged to Max Factor, but it ended with a restraining order when he accused her of physical violence.

She’s currently in her third marriage with Kurt Iswarienko since they exchanged vows in 2011. In the past couple of years, she’s been battling cancer, but she went in remission in 2018. In February 2020, she announced that her cancer had returned.

Eileen Brennan – Then

Little Mary, Hello, Dolly! and Sunshine are some of the plays that gave Eileen Brennan her start in acting. She switched over to the screen with her debut in the 1967 film Divorce American Style. She even received a BAFTA nomination for her supporting role in The Last Picture Show.

She also starred alongside other big names like Paul Newman, Goldie Hawn, and Bette Midler. She got a guest role in “The Love That Lies” which was a Magnum, P.I episode. At the time she featured in several other productions, including Murder, She Wrote, Stella, and Reckless.

Erin Gray – Then

In the ‘70s, Erin Gray was a highly popular model, and she seemed to be everywhere you looked. She featured in commercials by brands like Max Factor and L’Oreal. By 1975, she was amongst the highest-paid models taking home $100K annually.

The frequent trips she made to Los Angeles piqued her interest in acting, and one of the roles she landed was in Magnum, P.I. She guest-starred in the episode J Digger’ Doyle as a security expert. There was talks to her role as Joy ‘Digger’ Doyle a recurring one on the show or even spawn a spin-off out of it but neither materialized.

Erin Gray – Now

Gray went on to co-star in the ‘82 film Six Pack opposite Kenny Rogers. She also got a long-running role in the sitcom Silver Spoons as Kate Summers. On top of taking up guest-roles in TV shows, these days, she focuses her efforts more on working behind the scenes as a casting agent.

Gwen Verdon – Then

Gwen Verdon worked as an assistant for Jack Cole, a Broadway choreographer, marking her beginnings in showbiz. She also performed in various musical shows as well as movies as a background dancer. She even won four Tonys for her performances in musical comedies.

Her exemplary performance on the show earned her an Emmy nomination. She also received Emmy nominations for her roles in Homicide: Lide on the Streets and Dream On.

Gwen Verdon – Now

Verdon continued acting well into the late ‘90s, mostly picking up guest roles on TV shows. The 2000 comedy film Bruno was her very last credit. That same year, she passed away while sleeping from a heart attack. Verdon was at her daughter Nicole’s Woodstock residence at the time of her passing.

The marquee lights at Broadway were deemed later that night as an ode to Verdon. The collection of works she featured in preserve her memory, and she’s also remembered for being a firm advocate for mental wellness. An 8-part miniseries, Fosse/Verdon, telling the story about her troubled life with her second husband, Bob Fosse, aired on FX in 2019.

Phyllis David had a rather unusual childhood. She grew up with parents who were morticians and living above the mortuary they owned. Fortunately, she didn’t carry on with the family business, and instead, she made her way to Hollywood. We first saw her in productions like The Big Bounce, Sweet Sugar, and Guns.

She most notably starred in the ABC drama Vega$ as Beatrice Travis and before that, she appeared in Love American Style. She also took up guest features in several shows, including The Wild Wild West, Fantasy Island, The Love Boat, and Magnum, P.I.

Phyllis Davis – Now

Davis continued performing well into the ‘90s, and the last credit to her name that we could find is the 1995 film Under Siege 2: Dark Territory. Davis had been in a long-term relationship with Dean Martin in the ‘70s and later, she dated Laffit Pincay Jr., a racehorse jockey, in the ‘80s.

She never married or had any kids. On September 27, 2013, Davis lost the fight to cancer and died at her Henderson residence. She was 73 at the time of her passing, and she was interred at the Palm Mortuary Memorial Park.

Marta DuBois – Now

DuBois kept a steady flow of work over the years guest-starring in hit shows like L.A Law, Renegade, Martin, Walker, Texas Ranger, and Law & Order: LA. What we can say about the range of roles she picked is that they showed how versatile she was as an actress.

The last time she featured on a show was in 2013 when she appeared in an episode of Bones. Sadly, Dubois passed away in 2018 from a brain aneurysm at the age of 65. She was never married, and she also didn’t have any children.

Angela Lansbury grew up in an upper-middle-class family in London. She lost her father at an early age, and she started acting as an escape. She refers to the period as the defining moment in her life. The skills she built would later help her in the plethora of movie and TV roles she landed.

She started out with small roles, and she had her breakthrough in Gaslight. She had made a name for herself by the time she starred in Murder, She Wrote as Jessica Fletcher. She appeared in a crossover episode in Magnum, P.I as her Murder, She Wrote character.

Angela Lansbury – Now

On the stage, she put up a good show during the production of Blithe Spirit at the London-based Gielgud Theatre. Lansbury has two children from her second marriage to the late Peter Shaw who died in 2003.

Carol Burnett – Then

Getting a start in showbiz isn't easy, and no one knows better than Carol Burnett. She grouped with a couple of friends and they decided to put together a play. They invited talent agents, and that subsequently landed a spot in The Paul Winchell and Jerry Mahoney Show.

She's, however, best known for hosting her eponymous show The Carol Burnett Show. It was a groundbreaking achievement because she was the first woman to host a comedy variety show of its kind.  She has featured in several other shows including Magnum, P.I as Susan Johnson.

Meanwhile, her youngest daughter named Erin is an accomplished singer. She is currently married to Brian Miller, and she is 23 years older than him. We are waiting to watch her in the upcoming film Sorta Like a Rock Star.

Sharon Stone – Then

Believe it or not, Sharon Stone didn't have it easy in her early days, and she struggled to make it in  Hollywood. She switched from print and commercial modeling, and all she could get were a series of minor roles. The Woody Allen flick Stardust Memories marked her film debut in 1980.

She then delivered the most memorable performance playing identical twins in a Magnum, P.I episode, Echoes of the Mind that aired as two parts. She went on to pick up roles in films like Above the Law, Action Jackson, irreconcilable Differences, and King Solomon's Mines.

Stone expanded her family further through adoption when she welcomed her son Laird Vonne in 2005, and Quinn Kelly in 2006. She continued doing well on the big screen and won a Genie Award for the 1981 comedy film Heartaches. Kathleen Lloyd – Then

In 1976, Kathleen Lloyd, Jack Nicholson, and Marlon Brando offered a memorable performance in The Missouri Breaks. The film established her as a female lead and Lloyd followed through with appearances in the late ‘70s horror flicks It Live Again and The Car. Llody found her place on the small screen with a recurring role in Magnum, P.I.

She held the role of Carol Baldwin, an Assistant District Attorney, on the show through its run from 1983 to 1988. Around the same time, she also had recurring roles in shows like Hill Street Blues and The Gangster Chronicles.

Kathleen Lloyd – Now

Lloyd actually dropped out of the University of California to get into acting. She had won the prestigious Hugh O’Brian Acting Award and that was enough motivation for her to pursue acting. Llyod kept a steady flow of work through to the late ‘90s. She added credits in other hit shows like Airwolf, Murder, She Wrote, and Babylon 5 on her portfolio.

Llyod seems to have retreated from the spotlight since the late ‘90s and in fact, not much is known about what she’s up to these days. She was married to Peter Jenvay, and they share a child.

Clark has been married twice, to Marjoe Gortner and then to Jeff Wald. Both marriages ended in divorce, but there weren’t any children involved to complete the process. Away from work, Clark keeps herself busy attending hot rod shows. She offers her fans a treat during these occasions, which always ends up being a form of meet-and-greet.

Christine Belford has the best ice breaker ever, she can always talk about the time her family lived in a haunted house. We are referring to 112 Ocean Avenue house that was featured in The Amityville Horror. She did some modeling in the ‘70s and held odd jobs to make ends meet.

She caught a break and ended up with a Universal Pictures contract. She first appeared on TV as an extra in Matt Lincoln. In 1981 she guest-starred in Magnum, P.I as Adelaide Malone. Her star continued rising with features in CHiPs, Wonder Woman, and The Sixth Sense.

Since 1993, Belford and Nicholas Pryor have been married, but they don’t seem to have any plans of adding children to the equation. These days she maintains a low profile after presumably quitting the industry. We imagine that she’s living comfortably with the decent paychecks she earned throughout her career.

Anne Bloom – Then

Anne Bloom has enjoyed a three-decade-long acting career beginning with the ‘74 medical series Marcus Welby, M.D. She tried her luck on the big screen and appeared in The Dirt Bike Kid, Talking Walls, and False Identity. She found love again and exchanged vows with Dean Butler in 2001 after dating for five years. Cannon is now 66, and while she didn’t officially retire from acting, it’s safe to assume that she’s now settled into the next chapter of her life.
