Some of the biggest stars that are around today first gained their fame in the '90s. The likes of Jennifer Aniston, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and George Clooney emerged as huge pop-culture personalities and became wealthy beyond their imagination. However among the stars there were the people who didn't quite manage to replicate the success they had during that decade and to keep their bank accounts full. Some struggled to land more lucrative roles whereas others simply decided to take a back seat and focus on other career paths. And of course, there are those who thought they'd spend the fortune they earned in the '90s on cosmetic procedures and weight loss methods. Well, we figured those forgotten starlets that once had everything in front of them deserve some attention.
Andrew Keegan
If you watched Boy Meets World or Baywatch then you may remember a charming actor by the name of Andrew Keegan. Now, Keegan had a great career ahead of him and many considered him a very talented actor who could go on to star in great things. Surprisingly though, this didn't materialize and he began to take roles in rather strange movies, with his salary gradually decreasing. After disappearing for a while (and by a while we mean practically 10 years) he emerged again in 2014. No, he hadn't been hiding away.. Was he just collecting his thoughts perhaps? When he came out, he founded his own spiritual cult-like religion called Full Circle. It was something he was very passionate about until 2017 when the organization closed its doors and the religious entity that was Full Circle was no more.
Marla Sokoloff
Marla Sokoloff starred in many different things throughout the '90s. She was very much one of the go-to actresses and found herself in a recurring role in Full House as well as appearances in Boy Meets World, 3rd Rock From The Sun and many others. In 2000 she even featured in the comedy Dude, Where's My Car? Alongside Ashton Kutcher and Sean William Scott. She kind of fizzled out and took a back seat after that, as she had already gathered enough cash in her bank account. She does still act, although she also blogs a lot and has quite the following. Marla also spent a few years dating James Franco (who we know is a big name in Hollywood) although she's now married with kids to a composer. She might only be 37-years-old but she looks incredible after having two kids.
Eliza Dushku
Okay, so Eliza Dushku isn't really forgotten. She gained a lot of fame and success in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and later in the spin-off Angel. She's also done a lot of voice work for Marvel shows and despite moving back to Boston recently is still starring in front of the camera, with her latest role being in the movie Eloise. In fact, the main reason people have forgotten about the stunning actress is simply that she left LA and moved back to Boston. That's pretty much all there is to it. It's hard to believe she's only 37-years old because it feels like she has been around for a long time. That being said she looks incredible and she still manages to make money from what she loves the most: acting.
Jenna von Oy
Jenna von Oy first captured the hearts of audiences of Blossom where she played the character Six. She worked on the show for around five years and then went in search of greener pastures. Of course, those greater, greener pastures turned out to be non-existent and Jenna pretty much faded into the background. Nowadays she spends a lot of time blogging and writing about parenting although there are a couple of acting roles in the pipelines so maybe she's planning a return to the big screen. One thing we can say is that she's barely aged a day so whatever your skincare secret is Jenna, maybe pass it on to us?
Beverley Mitchell
Beverley Mitchell starred in 7th Heaven alongside star Jessica Biel (although even she's taken a back seat these days, perhaps it's because she's married to that small-time musician Justin Timberlake...) Unfortunately, fame didn't quite follow Beverley like it did her co-star, though, and she is quite rightly one of the forgotten stars of the '90s. And if you're a former up-and-coming star who doesn't make it, what do you do? You blog. So Beverley blogs about her being a mother and what it's like to be a parent. Though she’s definitely not bankrupt, she’s pretty much disappeared from the limelight.
Mara Wilson
Audiences fell in love with Mara Wilson when she played Matilda in 1996. It's a movie which is a classic - along with her role in Mrs. Doubtfire. She was certain to go on and do great things which is why it was incredibly puzzling when she disappeared into thin air. Apparently she didn't want to continue being an actress and instead moved into the world of writing. It was also revealed that the former child star suffers with anxiety and depression, something we hope she is receiving some kind of help for. Whatever her decisions are for giving up acting, she looks like she has barely aged a day.
Robert Iler
You might know Robert Iler from The Sopranos. The show was hugely successful and Iler played the role of A. J. Soprano, so he was quite important. He actually admitted that acting wasn't something he was overly bothered about until he got the part but afterwards he wanted to act for the rest of his life. Sorry Iler, that didn't quite work out for you eh? It's not all been happy days for him either. He was arrested for armed robbery in 2001 along with being caught in some underground place people played poker, that happened to get raided. Let's hope the worst is behind him now and he will focus on acting, although we're pretty sure he spends his day playing poker. Maybe someone needs to admit they have a gambling addiction...
Jamie-Lynn Sigler
Sticking to The Sopranos theme for a little bit, we have Jamie-Lynn Sigler. This beautiful actress played the daughter of Tony Soprano on the show and seemed destined for greatness. One major reason behind her lack of success might be down to her illness. In 2016 Jamie announced that she's spent most of her career suffering from multiple sclerosis which makes it very difficult for her to walk, let alone focus on acting. Luckily, her earnings from her fruitful acting career will help her keep battling her condition with the odds being in her favor.
Lacey Chabert
Lacey Chabert must have some of the best anti-aging secrets in the business because she looks like she's barely aged a day. She's done so much work and isn't really forgotten, it's more like, she decided to focus on other things such as voice over work. She's mostly recognized today for her role in Mean Girls as well as Party of Five. She primarily enjoys voice work, though, and was actually the voice of Meg Griffin in Family Guy before Mila Kunis took over. We're more interested in her ways of looking that youthful, but we're glad to see she's still being involved in the TV industry.
Jonathan Taylor Thomas
Johnathan Taylor Thomas is quite the character. He entered the acting world at the ripe-old-age of 8 and something you might not know about him is that at 13, he voiced our favorite Disney character - Young Simba from The Lion King. We don't think it is possible to become a forgotten actor with that under your belt, especially when you’re a child with a net worth that makes any adult envy you. He also starred in Home Improvement where he gained a lot of fame. So it came as quite a shock when he decided he wanted to take a break. He focused on his studies and went to Harvard and Columbia. From there he returned to showbiz with Tim Allen's show Last Man Standing. Now, Tim Allen played the onscreen dad of Johnathan in Home Improvement so it is rather fitting to see him not only return to work with him but for Taylor Thomas to take over and direct a few episodes too.
Jaleel White
Jaleel White is best known as Steve Urkel from Family Matters. The show gave White a lot of fame and a lot of money, so financial struggles aren't a thing for him. He also managed to stay away from illegal substances as a teenager, so that's a bonus too. White almost never became a regular cast member though. His initial role was just supposed to be a one-time gig but fans loved him instantly so he was written into the show, much to the disapproval of the other cast members. Of course, everything was sorted out and they all became friends of sorts, earning a sizable fortune along the way. He doesn't do a lot now other than the occasional bit-part in a show but at least he always has the Urkel voice to fall back to if things get rough.
Sherry Stringfield
Sherry Stringfield doesn't need to act for the financial gain involved, not anymore at least. In fact, when she was working on the set of E.R she was reportedly earning around $70,000 per episode. That’s what we call a huge salary! She was on the show for two years before quitting, a decision which baffled most but apparently, the working conditions were less than favorable. She does still act though and is in and out of TV shows quite regularly, either as a main cast member or just for a bit-part.
Dana Carvey
Dana Carvey is a very wealthy man thanks to his comedic ability and good impression skills. He gained a lot of success on Saturday Night Live and went onto to seek fame and fortune in the movie business. He took starring roles in both Wayne's World movies and then took a few roles just for the money - $3 million per film. We can't blame him for that. And with no need to focus on his shape, as he looks ageless, Carvey mostly enjoys his free time with his kids. He does stand-up shows now and earns a lot of cash from them so when he was awarded $8 million after suing for malpractice from medical experts, he gave it to charity. What a legend.
Tatyana Ali
Tatyana Ali is known the world over for her role as Ashley Banks in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. She took to the role perfectly and even experienced some of her most precious memories such as having her first kiss. Nothing like a studio audience watching you to make that more memorable! It's hard to believe the star is now 38 years old, especially as she looks incredible. We don't know if it's genetics, the work of a personal trainer - more than likely it’s a gift from Will Smith’s kiss. She has featured in movies and TV shows since The Fresh Prince came to an end although nothing has been as long-running or successful as that.
Erik von Detten
Erik von Detten is an actor who first graced us with his acting prowess in Days of Our Lives in 1993. A lot of people remember von Detten for his role in The Princess Diaries although that wasn't released until 2001. He also voiced Sid in the original Toy Story movie and featured in a couple of Disney projects throughout his career. He has managed to stay clean, and more than likely takes good care of his health and fitness to stay as handsome as it gets. He has voiced several animations including roles in Recess, Tarzan and Family Guy. He might not be all that active these days but he's certainly managed to keep himself busy over the years so, well played Erik.
Devon Sawa
Devon Sawa first entered the limelight as a teen when he played the human form of Casper in the movie...well, Casper. He became a bit of a heartthrob and then made people weep all over the world in his role for Now and Then. He is still very active in the movie world although a lot of people will remember him for the leading role in Final Destination as well as playing the character Stan from Eminem's song of the same name. He is married and has two children and although he isn't a hugely famous star like some of the '90s actors, good wealth management has helped him stay pretty wealthy. We're sure he spends his spare time working on how to stay in shape.
Marques Houston
Marques Houston is mostly known for his role in Sister, Sister as the annoying-next-door neighbor Roger Evens. He featured in the show for five seasons and has also been in a couple of movies such as You Got Served and Fat Albert. He is also big in the music industry and has released several albums over the years, although none of them have gone on to earn him a platinum status. That being said his wallet is probably very healthy, even if his music career didn’t eventually produce the earnings he probably wished for.
Skeet Ulrich
Actor Billy Ray Trout turned Skeet Ulrich (he now goes by Skeet Ulrich...who knows why) gained acclaim and fans for roles in movies such as Scream and The Craft. The characters he played were never really the 'hero' type during the '90s although he has remained active throughout his career. He's been married twice and very recently called off his engagement to potential wife number three. His most long-running role was as a voicing job in Robot Chicken which spanned seven years. Now he spends a lot of his time with his twins. We wonder how he manages to stay that hot after so many years.
Shane West
Shane West has been rather busy since he first shot to stardom following his role in Once and Again in 1999. He's avoided any illegal substances and the actor has steadily featured in TV shows and movies throughout the years. One of his most successful endeavors was starring alongside Sean Connery in The League of Extraordinary Gentleman. He's also starred in E.R, Salem and Nikita. You might also recognize him from the 2002 hit A Walk to Remember. We're curious as to what his secret to staying that youthful actually is. He might not have reached the heights that other '90s stars did, but he's still doing what he loves and is earning some nice paychecks for his acting performances.
Rider Strong
Rider Strong might not be hugely recognized in the world but he is still acting, with movie roles up until around 2013 and he still features on TV roles today. He got his main break in the '90s show Boy Meets World and spent 3 years as both a director and actor in Girl Meets World. He's also starred in several different movies, although nothing ground-breaking. Rider also turned his hand at voice acting too, featuring in animated movies such as Kim Possible. Whatever the case may be, Strong still looks young for his 38 years so perhaps he could share his anti-aging creams with us?
Elizabeth Berkley
Elizabeth Berkley looked set to be a huge star when she starred in Saved by the Bell. The stunning actress appeared to be on track too after moving straight from the show to the movie Show Girls. However it seemed the film didn't really do her acting career much good and she began to fizzle out. She has still been involved in many movies and shows although most of them have been direct-to-video releases. At least you get paid though, Berkley. The former model still looks incredible although we're not convinced she hasn't undergone cosmetic surgery. Although nothing has been confirmed, there are rumors she might have opted for breast augmentation surgery for Show Girls as well as a nose job and liposuction. We kind of hope she didn't as there is absolutely no need for the stunner to resort to cosmetic surgery to maintain her looks.
Alicia Silverstone
Alicia Silverstone has been a very busy bee since gaining fame in the '90s. Her role in Clueless skyrocketed her into the limelight but despite her long list of accredited roles, she's not really known any more. She has done a bit of voice acting and in 2018 will play the main role of Bonnie Nolan in American Woman. Silverstone still looks incredible and at times you'd be convinced she hasn't aged a bit. The 41-year-old must have a serious skincare regime to keep her youthful looks - or perhaps a very good cosmetic surgeon. People have speculated that she has gone under the knife although nothing has been confirmed. Maybe the former model is just naturally beautiful and doesn't need plastic surgery to improve her appearance.
Tahj Mowry
Tahj Mowry gained fame in a show called Smart Guy. The show is what he is most known for, although he also did a stint on Full House as well as voicing a character in Kim Possible. He's stayed clear of drug addiction (or has stayed clear of the media aspect of things) and even though he drifted off of the radar for a bit he did have a main role in Baby Daddy as Tucker Dobbs. The actor is only 31 years old so he could still surprise us and become a huge star down the line. For now, though, he's dabbling in acting and music after releasing his first EP in 2015. It's good to see someone still trying to gain more success and it's even better to see a child actor stay away from alcohol abuse.
Barry Watson
Barry Watson actually has a rather inspirational story to look at. He has done tons of acting work, primarily in the '90s and gained a lot of fame and attention for his role in 7th Heaven but also through movies and other shows. He almost didn't take the role in 7th Heaven either, after questioning why he was being offered it at all. He became a regular for the first 6 seasons but after that took a break, not because he wasn't suffering from alcohol addiction or he had to attend drug rehab or anything. He took a break because, in 2002, he was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, something he battled with for around a year, until he emerged victorious. He's still in roles today although gigs seem few and far between with his last noteworthy one being in Samantha Who?
Jason Behr
If you ever watched Roswell back in the day then you would know Jason Behr. The show is about alien-human hybrids that live in, well...Roswell. The show lasted for 3 seasons which saw it considered a success and Jason probably thought he was on the cusp of greatness. He did do well at not developing an alcohol addiction, a problem which plagues a lot of young stars but he also did well at fading away from the spotlight. After Roswell was over, he struggled to get anything more than minor roles. He did work on The Grudge, though, alongside beauty Sarah Michelle Gellar. It was here that he met his now-wife KaDee Strickland. She's successful, starring in TV roles and bringing home the bacon. At least Jason has lots of time to work on the perfect weight loss plan in his spare time.
Joe Lando
Joe Lando is a famous actor from the ‘90s, best known from Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, where he played the role of Byron Sully. His career began in 1986 with a small role in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, while Lando gained attention with One Life to Live. Joe was also on Guiding Light, Higher Ground, Summerland, The Secret Circle, No Code of Conduct, and others. He transitioned to the new millennium successfully and continuously appeared in various movies and TV shows with his earnings following suit. Lando was in A.I. Assault, Sniper: Ultimate Kill, The Bold and the Beautiful, and most recently in The Untold Story in 2019.
Freddie Prinze Jr.
You might remember Freddie Prinze Jr. from movies such as I Know What You Did Last Summer and She's All That. The expectations were high for the Hollywood hunk and we're guessing he had an intensive workout and exercise regime to try and stay in shape for his roles. His acting was never really phenomenal though and in the early 2000's he began to fade from the spotlight. He did end up married to beauty Sarah Michelle Gellar - someone he is still married to believe it or not. So life isn't all that bad for the former star. He did resort to writing and releasing a cookbook, though we're not sure if that is a bad omen, a cry for help, or if he just likes cooking.
Andrea Barber
Andrea Barber started to make a name for herself in the '80s when she portrayed Carrie Brady on Days of Our Lives. After tha, she started to get a few offers come in and is mainly remembered for playing Kimmy Gibbler from Full House. Rather than continuing to pursue her acting career though, she took a break to study. It seemed as though she would never reappear but in 2016 she went back to the role that helped her gain some wealth in the Netflix spin-off show Fuller House. Regardless, we're happy she's trying to get back into the acting scene after a rather long hiatus, and her bank account is definitely even happier!
Pauly Shore
Pauly Shore got to shine during the ’90s. He was spending his days between film sets and even got to make his own series, Pauly! He was born in Los Angeles back in 1968 and started doing stand-up comedy by the time he was 17 years old. Today, Pauly is 52 and has never stopped making people laugh. After all, by doing so, he’s also earned a fortune of around $30 million. Just within 2020, he took part in the movie called Guest House, and in 2021, he’s expected to participate in the Down to Business series.
